The "Stuttgarter Profilkatalog I" by Dieter Althaus and Franz Xaver Wortmann
was published by Friedr. Vieweg & Sohn Verlag in 1981. It contains airfoils
and wind tunnel tests from the Laminar Wind Tunnel of the Institut für
Aerodynamik und Gasdynamik of the Stuttgart University. Since only analogue data
processing instrumentation was available in the tunnel at that time, the polar
diagrams for the airfoils were presented only as diagrams. In the meantime, most
of these diagrms were digitized and the corresponding data are available in
tabulated form. In addition, the coordinates of some airfoils were treated by
smoothing processes.
Since the Vieweg Verlag plans no new edition of the
catalogue, this supplement was put together. It contains the velocity
distributions and the shapes of the airfoils and the polar diagrams of nearly
all airfoils form the Stuttgarter Profilkatalog I. Of special interest for the
user, however, are the coordinates for the airfoils and the digitized data for
the polar diagrams, which are included as ASCII files on a CD-ROM.
A
catalogue compiling the airfoils and wind tunnel tests in the Stuttgarter
Laminar Wind Tunnel since 1972 has been published by Vieweg Verlag.
The manual includes contours, velocity distributions, and polar diagrams with the wind-tunnel measurements for the FX-airfoils.
