A gyrotron is a microwave generator based on the relativistic electron cyclotron maser instability. In our research context it can be used for electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) in fusion plasma heating.
The following picture shows the result for a
mode resonator (30 GHz) at 15 ns, simulated with our 3D PIC code parallel on 64 cores with approx. 8000, p=3 (fourth-order), tetrahedral elements and 100k particles.
