The Numerics Research Group at the IAG is looking for a research associate at the doctoral level for an exciting research project as soon as possible: Ph.D. Position / TV-L E13, full time

19. Mai 2025

This project focuses on computationally investigating fluid-structure interaction on aircraft wings and fan blades to predict and mitigate flutter for the advancement of next-generation aircraft.

Fluid-Structure Interaction for Flutter Suppression

The tasks include

  • Implementation of structural dynamics methods in CFD
  • Simulation of complex flows with fluid-structure interaction
  • High-fidelity simulations of aircraft wings and fan blades

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering or related fields, preferably with a
background in numerical methods for PDEs, fluid-structure interaction or turbulent flows
  • Proficiency in programming, preferably in Fortran or Python
  • Fluency in either German or English (written & oral)

The IAG encourages publication of results in scientific journals and supports participation in international conferences. The position is initially limited to three years, but an extension beyond this period is possible.

The IAG is committed to increasing the number of female scientists. Severely disabled persons are given priority if equally qualified.
