Numerical simulation nowadays is a key technology used for the development of new products in all industrial fields. Significant improvements in numerical models and especially in the available computing resources enable the solution of engineering problems with increasing complexity. Numerical simulations can not only be used to improve products or reduce their development time, but to explore and better understand nature as well. It is often the scientist seeking higher fidelity and new ways to push the boundaries of available simulation methodologies to gain a new useful tool for his basic research who paves the way for those new methods in industrial applications.

For the generation of curved unstructured grids, the high order preprocessor HOPR was developed for the last years by the numerics research group, and is now available open-source at www.hopr-project.org. There you can download the software and several tutorials will guide you through different meshing scenarios. Our high order Discontinuous Galerkin Solver FLEXI is also available at www.flexi-project.org.
